Are STR still getting access to Red Bull Technologies' current year chassis then? I seem to recall talk of the 'cord' being cut and them being forced to go it alone? It does look a touch more like the RB6 than the RB7.

As others have said it looks MUCH better without the goddamn sharkfin!

** EDIT ** It seems that I'm right - it is developed 'in house' now. I do wonder how much of Red Bull's IP is shared with them though!

Technically none I think, as it was stopped with the banning on customer cars.

However, if a Torro Rosso designer happened to see a Red Bull designers drawings on his laptop while out for coffee...

Thought id bring up the article from the Williams thread http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/89239 as it mentions that they are running a double floor on this...

Wondering if anyone could shed more light on this as it could be interesting...

The sidepods don't touch the floor, creating a tunnel between. It's to try and allow cleaner airflow to the rear wing and diffuser Ferrari have tried it in the past on the F92 iirc.

This is a better shot of what the sidepods look like.

AHHHHH! I get you now, least they are giving something different ago so kudos to one of the more pointless teams now (I cant get over Martin B bringing up the point that this team has little function giving the dominance of the first team and its lack of speed in bringing new drivers in)

Ferrari have tried it in the past on the F92 iirc.

Bloody 'orrible looking old shed that was.

Indeed. Not exactly a car that any current team would want to emulate - ugly, blessed with some alarming handling characteristics and about as reliable as a politician's promise. Ferrari have made some great cars and some dogs, and that one was an utter dog.

Isnt the quote it handled like a truck?? :p

Still worth a go to see if it gives any sort of performance....

JRS is right, it was the 643 that was deemed to be truck-like and those comments (no doubt amongst other issues) got Prost the boot.

Was it Arnoux who got fired by Alfa Romeo over comments about their engines in the 80s? I'd need to look it up to be sure but I think it was.

EDIT

Almost right, I knew it was something to do with Arnoux and Alfa - (from Wikipedia)
"The Ligier JS29 was a Formula One car designed by Michel Tétu and Michel Beaujon for the Ligier team for use in the 1987 Formula One season. The JS29 was originally to be powered by a brand new Alfa-Romeo 415T 4cyl engine, however, after pre-season testing lead driver René Arnoux compared the engine to used food. This gave an excuse for Alfa's parent company Fiat to pull the plug on the project. It was reported at the time that Fiat did not want Alfa Romeo involved in Formula One as a competitor to Ferrari."
