torrent for cod4 demo

:confused:

It's an FTP link from a stable, fast source. You can't do better than that in terms of resumability. It will always be there and the download will resume at full speed within milliseconds of you connecting to the server, no need to connect to seeds/peers etc and wait for speed to build up.

:confused: mine downloads it through Firefox. So when i close firefox, the download stops?

What about if you minimize to taskbar? Or you could use that download manager that is an addon to Firefox... can't remember it's name offhand.

I'd highly recommend just getting it off multiplay - a torrent is going to be a gamble, whereas Multiplay are always really fast. :)

i prefer using torrents for large files too, anything over 100mb isn't worth risking (on my mum's 512kb connection anyway!)

//taps 20mb ntl

hmm i seem to have problems getting it into a ftp manager.. :confused:

Personally I recommend FlashFXP, you can download a free trial here: http://www.inicom.net/pages/en.ffxp-home.php

Filezilla is a freeware alternative.

I don't really see the logic in using torrents for large files as opposed to (reliable) FTPs, since you are then dependent on both the tracker staying up and there being enough seeds/peers to supply you. It also uses upstream bandwidth and due to the P2P nature is often slower - especially if you have an ISP which tries to restrict it. With FTP as long as you trust the source, it's also arguably 'safer' than P2P with people all over the shop too.

edit: Obviously there are exceptions such as FTP servers with a low user limit, then there's a risk you might lose your spot for a while if it's popular.

Most FTP clients will have a "local view" in one pane where you can choose where you want to download files to. You should be able to paste the FTP link into a "quick connect" option or similar in the other (remote) pane... depends a bit on what client you have really.
