Hi all,

Hope you can help me out been using Utorrent for Two years now with great success, however up until recently My ISP Virgin media started not working (month ago) got engineer out replaced the usb cable from the modem with an Ethernet one happy days all going well until i updated to Utorrent build 1.7.5 then all went abit daft, was able to download for about an hour then all the torrents would stop downloading & upon closing the client i couldn't even browse the internet without rebooting the system, is there something going on at virgin media regarding tracking IP's etc?

Using Zonealarm - been fine lovely piece of kit - very much doubt thats involved tried using utorrent without zonealarm on - still no good.

Tried uninstalling utorrent back to 1.7.4 - still has the same issues

Even installed the latest Bitcomet - still has the same issues

Hope ive not missed anything out,

Please help

Ps (Mite have to dig out the old Duron 800 to use as a download server)

I had similar problems after a reinstall of Vista.
The uTorrent FAQ has some useful information, namely:

Common fixes for routers/modems freezing/crashing/etc

* Updating the router firmware
* Turning off the UPnP (in the client and in the router) and doing manual port forwarding
* Restricting the number of global connections to 200 or less (may need to go below 100, depending on the router)
* Turning off DHT
* Lowering net.max_halfopen and bt.connect_speed
* Putting the modem/router into bridge or gateway mode (doesn't apply to modems that aren't routers)
* Getting a new router/modem

For me, lowering the global connections to 200, turning off UPnP, and also turning off DHT has solved the problem.

Hope it helps.
