Toshiba a300 problems

I have one of these and it has failed a bit. When I got it windows had failed and hdd was empty and windows wouldn't install at all bit
Linux did. Now wont power up at all. Power light comes on but nothing else. Have tried hanging hdd and checked all connections
But no joy. Any ideas anyone?

Try this:

Remove the battery, then hold the power button down for 1 minute;
Connect the power adapter (but not the battery) and turn it on;
Shut it down;
Put the battery back in;
Switch on.

No idea why it works, but it has done for me in the past (with an Asus laptop, at least).

Tried that, power comes on, power light comes on but no other lights or screen. Can hear fan and hdd I think bit nothing else.

Would that have caused hdd to wipe windows
Before? Or windows
Not To install? I have had it apart
And nothing looks burnt out. I have seen abou the cmos memory and battery
Being possible
Problems. Any ideas?
