Hello,

Just about to buy a Toshiba Equium A300-16C for my brother. Motivation is a reliable semi-portable laptop that has a reasonable graphics capibility for films and some really old games (Rome Total War to be precise). Also needs to do web and chat and enough excel for a comp sci student.

What do we think?

Chris.

Thank you for your reply.

Spending £499.

I've gone AMD not for the chip (hardly matters for this build) but for the integrated graphics (780g chipset I think). This should play the game(s) without the cost, heat or power requirements of discrete graphics.

I'm not overly intersted in refurbished products.

Would be interested in any other feedback or alternatives. :)

I work in the store your getting that from - and I dont think, although Im not too sure , that it has the 780g chipset. :)

Thank you for your reply, I went by the Toshiba website which doesn't explicitly mention the chipset but does mention:
