Toshiba Laptop Help

De-fragmented my mums laptop the other day.. and when it restarted strange things happened on the bios screen it was saying it was cleaning something up etc, then when it finally booted up loads of failed to load errors came up, no programs work now they keep coming up as errors.... therefore i cant use the internet or anything and i tried a system restore still no fix...

it is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE-00T005EN

any help would be appreciated thank you

May be too obvious, but have you check the drive for errors?

could be hdd problem, run a hdd check or test

Well if the HDD checks return errors, then you will most likely need a new hard drive. Simply job to replace one on most laptops though.
