Toshiba laptop - how to disable fan warning message?

Friend has a new toshiba qosmio x505, and keeps getting annoying pop-ups saying that the cpu fan is malfunctioning, and to turn off the computer and return it for servicing.

My friend is not very computer savvy but I've checked it out using teamviewer and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. During stress testing the fans work fine and keep the CPU cool, but the error messages pop up anyway. I've come to the conclusion that it's just a malfunctioning sensor or something.

Returning it would be a bit of a PITA, so we've been trying to disable the warning messages which prevent you from doing anything productive.

So far we've tried uninstalling the system monitoring utilities that came pre-installed, stopping all the processes that start on boot-up, and looking in the bios for an option to disable cpu fan warnings (there was none). FYI the process that the warning message appears to be using when it pops-up is csrss.exe which is a windows process and cannot be disabled.

I've also googled the problem extensively and can only find regurgitated advice telling people to send it back to toshiba (despite several people profusely stating that there was nothing physically wrong with the cooling). We just really can't bring ourselves to do this, as it's such a non-problem and should ought to be solved simply.

Any ideas?

If you have a fault with the cooling system the laptop will not operate at 100% speed, I would just bite the bullet and get it sent back for repair.

That's the thing, it does operate at 100% speed. The only thing hampering performance is the warning message getting in the way.

have you checked the toshiba website to see if there is an updated version of the PC Health Monitor software?? same goes for bios

Yes, I checked both were up to date before I removed the health monitor. The warning messages did not go away so they must be related to some other bit of software that I just can't find  .

I had a toshiba laptop to fix that had the same error message, running orthos full load and using core temp the max temp it would reach is 45-50 degrees, after replacing the heatsink fan module temps were upto 85 degrees, this demonstrates the cpu was throttling back to keep it cool. I'd be surprised if yours isn't doing the same.

I also monitored the cpu clock while stressing and it wasn't throttling. Just want to know how to turn the message off at this point. Guess I should try the toshiba forums.
