Hi peeps

hoping you can help me. I have a toshiba L350-171 laptop. When i press the power button the fan spins up but i get no display and no HDD activity.

i have 2 of these so i've already swapped batteries, power supplies etc.

It has a 60gb ssd in it and just the other day i did a clean install of windows 7 and since then i've not touched it. The power adapter light, battery light and the power on light are all illuminated.

Have completely stripped it and can see no signs of damage to the MB.

I have read a few stories of peoples leaving them in standby for long periods of time and then the laptop not waking up.

Any ideas???

don't all rush with advice at once!

have tested hard drive and memory in the other laptop and they work fine. have also plugged in an external monitor and got no output from that. this to me suggests that the screen is not at fault so it can only point to the motherboard being at fault.

Well it's a laptop = finicky and possible unfixable when something goes wrong!

Since you had it apart, did you test the DC input to make sure it was getting power? Although with a spare, you can charge the battery on the other and then try it without a PSU.

With some laptops, taking the battery out for a few hours and then trying only with a power supply can work. Also, although not mentioned in the manuals etc. some laptops do have a different response when you hold the power button for a length of time.
Sometimes there's an actual clear CMOS on the mobo 'somewhere' which might help.

it is getting power as the lights illuminate and the cpu fan spins up. just nothing happens after that. hdd lights doesn't flash and i get nothing happening from the screen.

have tried pressing power button for various amounts of time. did see the cmos battery but can't see how the bios could kill power to everything
