HI All

I have a Toshiba Equium A100-306 which is 2 years old.Problem is that the hard drive has broken and needs replacing.

I can do the work myself but I am wondering if there are any problems with installing a new drive in a commercial laptop as the makers always have their own little eproms with logo's and stuff on.

Also, having lost the Rescue discs,I will need to install Windows XP from my Wifes broken computer, does anyone know of any problems in doing this,or should I just get Vista and have done with it?

Thanks

Alan

install the xp and get the drivers from the toshiba site job done, no manufactures will stop you installig a retail copy of windows, they may however prevent the supplied restore discs on other units usually by a DMI string.
