Hi,

Just bought a Toshiba NB100 netbook running a modified version of Ubuntu. Looks and runs mint!!

I got it for £199 from comet. The closest price wise to this was either an asus eee 900 which my mate has and i hate it or the acer one 110 but that only has a 8gb hard drive where the tohiba has 80gb

This is quicker than my dads 3yr old laptop

The Acer's 8GB drive is a SSD though, so has advantages in other areas.

How do you find Ubuntu Netbook Remix so far? I'm tempted to give it a whirl when the wifey comes back from her trip to Tokyo and her netbook becomes my toy.

Yeah, but 8Gb is a total waste of time. You will spend half your time deleting anything you dare download.
Nah, the netbook is used for very specific reasons in our household - that's why we bought it.

It's small, lightweight, well-built, quick and was dirt cheap. It's ideal for browsing the web, sending emails, transferring photos from the digital camera, etc... whilst we're out and about travelling.

Anything that is to be kept permanently would be downloaded on one of the other machines we have instead.
