Can we remove vista on a brand new laptop without voiding the warranty of the laptop itself? We have done the recovery dvd's and I know where all the recovery stuff is kept on the hard drive. We just dont like vista much at all and prefer xp. I dont want to go voiding the warranty by doing the wife a favour, she will do her nut if something happens.

no it won't void the warranty, but you might have problems getting specific xp drivers and if it runs flakey its a risk you take.

You WILL have to install Vista to go through any diagnostics if a hardware fault develops that is not obvious like a clicking HD or non reading optical drive.

Supoort lines only usually support the supplied OS but as its just software you can put anything on it, linux leapard etc.
