Hi guys, i no its been done to death, is v power worth it on normal cars etc, but has anyone tried Total Excellium diesel. I put 53L in the mondeo last night, so will see what sort of difference it does or doesnt make.

I was going to try BP ultimate, but there was not a garage close enough, and dont think i can get v power diesel in my area.

It only cost £103.9 which compared to 99.9 is not too bad. at the moment they have an offer on, if you dont see a difference, they will refund the difference,

So has anyone used it?

I accidentally filled my car up with Shell V Power Diesel the other week.

Arrived at the petrol station and it was really busy so just got to the back of a queue.

When I arrived at the pump I noticed it was V Power Diesel and not the regular stuff. Didn't want to queue again so just filled the tank up with it.

Noticed absolutely nothing different.

No difference in MPG or how the car drove compared to before.

If anything, the extra additives they put into it keeps things clean but then I stick some Forte in every 6 months.

Not going to go out of my way to use it every week.

I can see the benefit of V-Power unleaded etc with the higher RON and performance engines but not with diesel.

you are getting ripped off! the higher octane total Excellium up here is 94.9 a litre where I fill up

it will take a few hundred miles for the engine management system to adjust to the higher octane fuel, well that how it works with petrol, not sure about derv. my ST has had 2 tanks of vpower through it and only just seeing a difference from the normal stuff

I use BP Ultimate or Shell V Power all the time. My car is more responsive (especially in 6th), I get slightly better fuel economy and it doesn't smoke so much. I only use normal diesel when I really have to and I can tell the difference.

yeah i ment 103.9p I will use it for about 3 maybe 4 tank fulls, as i pass the garage everyday on my way home from work, so its not out of the way. I do about 50-60 miles a day, so wont take too long to go through a few tanks.

and yes, unleaded excellium is 94.9

A total bargain, that's only £467.55 per gallon, or a bit short of 6 grand to fill the average 55 litre tank ;)

Surely he's getting mixed up and accidentally filled up with BP Ultimate 102 ;)

Aren't BP and Total the same company these days? I remember that Excellium petrol went crap (same as BP Ultimate is crap) not long after the two got together, so chances are that Excellium diesel is the same stuff as Ultimate Diesel.

Which is to say it's Diesel with detergents and stuff in it and will make a difference if your engine is clogged up with deposits, but you may as well just put some Redex or Seafoam into your tank every couple of months.
