Hi at the mo I have a laptop and desktop, I have s single ethernet cable which comes out of my wall into a router which both the desktop and laptop are connected to so they can both have internet connection. What I want to do is be able to share files between the desktop and laptop, I know it must be simple but I'm having a hard time understanding the network settings. On my desktop I have xp64 on the laptop I have normal xphome. Is it possible to share the files between the comps. How would I set up the comps in laymans terms? Thanks peeps

Ok apparently doing it this way isn't a good idea the wiazrd says. So I've done it like this>>Connected my router to my net connection, connected my desktop to router through LAN 1 then connected my laptop to desktop through LAN 2. Is this correct? All I want to do is run the internet on 2 comps through one connection and allow both to share files. Grrr...how hard can it be.

I setup up the wizard on my desktop "This comp connects to interent, all other comps connect to it". I've set up my laptop which actually recognises my desktop as a Internet Gateway and internet works fine on both but when I goto workgroups on my laptop, no computers show up. If I go to workgroups on my desktop, it only shows itself  Can someone please offer any insight? Thanks
