Hi
I'm about to buy a Clevo-based laptop and have heard that the on-board audio is a bit naff.
I was intending on buying a decent set of headphones anyway (as it'll be used in a shared room), but was wondering if I should take the opportunity to buy some USB cans with an internal sound card to bypass the Clevo headphone port. Would quite like a surround set too.
I assume all USB headsets must have an audio chip in them to work, but for the surround sound sets, do you also need to have surround support on the laptop or is all the decoding done by the headsets?
Is it better to get an external USB card with 5.1 out and a headset with 5.1 connectors, or just bypass an external card and get a complete USB headset?
My budget is up to £100.
