Hi all

I have recently purchased the following:

thermaltake mt20 case
seasonic 850w focus+ gold+ psu
i79700k cpu
thermaltake water 3.0 120 argb cpu cooler
16gb Vulcan ddr4
gigabyte z390 gaming sli board

now for the silly questions:

I have spent most of the night trying to install it all but has been years since I built a pc and things have changed

the motherboard has 24 pin connector for the psu to plug in do I need to plug in the
  1. 1 x 8-pin ATX 12V power connector
  2. 1 x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector as well I have plugged one in from the psu to the 4 pin
also if anyone knows how the rgb lights work on the case as I have got it setup now but I have had to put the controller through the back of the case where the graphics card goes as I cant get it through anywhere else once the case is closed

sorry guys for the noob questions but its been a very long time and am new to the modular psu and other things that have advanced

thanks all

Hi,

Your motherboard has an 8 pin and a 4 pin for CPU power. The important one is the 8 pin. The extra 4 pin is optional.

Apparently your PSU has 2 x 4+4 pin ATX connectors for CPU power, so you have enough to plug in both the 8 and the 4 pin on the motherboard. One 4 pin connector will remain unplugged.

No idea bout the RGB, sorry.

There's zero need to connect 4 pin ATX12V connecter, it just adds cable mess.
8 pin EPS12V connector is enough unless doing extreme overlocking.
And that small waterpipe cooler likely weaker than most decent heatpipe coolers would bottleneck before half way there.
