Started looking up benchmarks for Total War: Attila, in preperation for the release day tomorrow. Was nice to see a game that heavily stresses the CPU. Unfortunately I haven't found any benchmarks with X99 systems yet, I'm curious as to the FPS they can obtain.

Worth noting that these benchmarks include both the CPU at stock and with a decent overclock on it:

By the looks of it x99 wont fare much better, extra threads making very little difference on the normal I7's over the I5.

I never really got into the TW games, are they so demanding due to complexity(like arma is) or is it just a lot of awful optimization?.I know theirs a lot of AI at play and such, but the game always seems to run not particularly well even on beast machines

The 15MB/20MB cache on the X99 range will benefit it for sure, would love to see benchmark results though!

Its a hard chart to digest simply looking at the FX clocked at 5Ghz being beaten by low clocked i5's. Either the game is poorly catering for non intel CPU's (biased by design) or they have yet to optimise it for AMD users.

I know the FX line is not strong but this seems like they are not performing to their potential.

It's a similar story in the many CPU bound games. IPC is king afterall, clocking the FX's to 7Ghz won't help much.
