From BBC:

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has said for for the first time that his club would consider building a new ground to share with arch-rivals Arsenal.
Spurs are just beginning the long process of deciding whether they should move away from White Hart Lane and, if so, where they should go.

The club are pessimistic that poor transport links near the ground will be improved.

Arsenal - who visit Tottenham for a derby clash on Sunday - have already decided to quit Highbury and build a new ground on a nearby site at Ashburton Grove.

Would the groundshare work?
But that project's budget has just risen by another £100m.

That could open the path for previously unthinkable talks between the north London giants on the prospect of building a shared home together.

Alternatively, Tottenham could contribute financially to the Ashburton Grove project and eventually share that ground.

"We'd be open-minded about ground-sharing," Levy told London's Evening Standard newspaper.

"We're not discussing it with anybody but clearly all clubs are going to have to manage themselves in a better way than before.

"If you can get more use out of your stadium, that makes a lot of sense.

"There's no conversation taking place with Arsenal.

"We have no plans to ground-share with Arsenal or anyone else, but clearly if someone approached us and it was in the club's interests and the fans' interests, we're not dogmatic. We'd look at it."

Levy insisted Spurs would never sell up and move in at Highbury - the exisiting home of the Gunners.

But he was open to the idea of jointly constructing a ground.

"My own view is that if it were a neutral venue, then it's something we would consider - it's something you'd have thought both clubs would at least consider.

"But on something as emotive as that, we would have to get a real feel from our fans as to whether that would be something they'd be prepared to accept."

Levy also hinted that Tottenham would be interested in moving to the new Wembley Stadium.

That project is also running over budget and there has been talk that an 'anchor tenant' could be sought to ease the financial burden.

"Clearly, the idea of utilising an existing stadium or one which has already been planned to be built obviously has some appeal," said Levy.

...and mine!

I know for a fact we have looked at moving to Wembley although not seriously and plans to redevelop WHL are well under way. This is just stunt to try and force the government to regenerate Tottenham and the surrounding areas.

Yeah this has just gotta be to get the WHL area rejuvenated as if that doesn't happen apparently we are willing to build a new place. Could see the groundshare idea being bad news but would ultimately be funny :p Won't happen:

"There's no conversation taking place with Arsenal.

"We have no plans to ground-share with Arsenal or anyone else"

Says it all really.

It's something clubs should start thinking about. Look at Italy, the San Sero is a top notch stadium and costs a fortune in up-keep. Arch rivals Milan and inter share that and share the cost. Juve share with Torino, Roma share with Lazio and so on.

Is difficult to manage but it's gotta benefit both clubs, freeing revenue for new players and meaning better stadia.

Although I'd rather eat lightbulbs than share with Darlo!:D

At first I thought NO WAY! but the more you think about it, it makes good sense. There are plusses and minuses all over the place, but I think the +'s come out on top.

Think about it, wether your a yid like myself or a gunner, if either of our teams go and splash out, what is a serious amount of money, on a new stadium. How much cash is going to be left over to strengthen the squad?
Not a lot I'll bet:(

If both clubs share a ground, then both clubs only need to spend half as much maintaining, running and improving it in the future. Result? More money available to buy and pay wages of top world class players.

Another massive cost that can be shared is sorting out accessability to the new ground, which is one of the main reasons Spurs find themselves in this position.

More money from advertisers in the ground as they'll get twice as much coverage, as the ground will be in use at least once a week. The ground will be on T.V twice as much too, especially if we get into Europe, which is a distinct possibility.
Though I think this would be a bit of a minefield as Arsenal would probably want a bigger share with them being in the Champions league.

Don't forget we are talking serious money here. Over £100m, probably over £200m all together. Half that, and that's £100m your beloved club will be better off.

A small price to pay would be sharing a ground with 'the enemy'. I could live with that.

It's just a bit ironic that both teams will strengthen each other:eek: ;)

i most certainly could not live with it, we are the best in the country and we should have the best facilities, we can get the money to spend so why should we share within a 10-15 years we will get our money back, we need to compete with the best in stadiums. We dont need to spend a lot of money to strenghten our squad maybe spurs do but we dont.

look at man utd u dont see them asking man city if they wanna share, we need to compete with man utd and on off the pitch, all we can now all we need is a stadium as good as theirs. I simply cannot live with sharing a stadium with spurs, after all the hard work put in to get to where we are this will be like admitting defeat and saying we cant pull it off :(

If we need more money we could easily sell jeffers fo £30 million, Kanu for £25 million and Stepanovs for £20 million so i dont see what the problem is  :D :p lol

lol I think you're kidding otherwise you've missed the decimal point out of those three prices  :o

Fooball ,as we all know, can turn very quickly. Arsenal are flying higher than they have at any time in their history.

What if Viera does a 'Campbell' on you, and sods off,and Henry gets a bad knee injury?
Without those 2 players, I think Arsenal are a very ordinary team. Certainly not capable of winning the Champions League, which at the moment, I personally think they could. IF they have as much luck as Man UTD did when they won it.
But then with that kind of luck so could Spurs:p ;)

the reality of this is stupid
people comparing this to continental examples forget english football is totally different. A football stadium is the clubs castle and you dont see 2 sworn enemies sharing a castle do you?

as said above it would never be a neutral stadium as the "Arse" would think they were more worthy to the stadium as at the mo they are doing better, bringing in more matches etc.

Also if Carr does a Cambell on us he'd have no where to hide like Cambell did to us at the derby the week after ;)

exactly, ur stadium is apart of ur identity, the fans would not be able to live with it.

arsenal are on course to build prolly one of the best stadiums in the world and the idea of spurs jumping aboard now is stupid and annoys me, the stadium will be for arsenal and its fans not spurs

It's a totally different ball game mate, trust me.

Yes it is a totally different ball game. The AC/Inter Milan and especially the Lazio/Roma rivallry is far more fierce than the Goons/Spurs one and yet they manage to ground share because its is mutually beneficial for them to do it, for economic and environment reasons.

If this helped both teams be able to get into a better stadium for less money and allow them to spend money on all other things like on the squad or the community then it can only be a good thing.
