Hi,

I've just got my hands on the IPhone 6 and was wondering why after setting up the Touch ID to be used as my security measure to unlock, it then reverts back to the pin code after 2 failed attempts or if someone swipes to the right?

Is this something I need to get an app for and if so which? Just I don't see the point of having something like a finger print unlock feature and then not to allow it as the only form of phone unlocking? Since pins can be guessed or noted from a distance.

it should not matter what screen the phone is on if its locked the fingerprint will still work on the passcode screen.

I have to be totally honest and say i would try to re scan your finger as i have used it at least 300+ times and has never failed.

EDIT : I have both thumbs logged, just in case one gets " eaten by a crocodile "

Didn't realise you could do both thumbs... Will add my other one now!

It's also a lot quicker than typing the pin code in. Just press the home button to wake and leave the thumb rested on it to unlock. Also stops anyone looking over your shoulder and seeing the pin if you unlock on public transport.

TouchID lets you set a complex passcode rather than the 4 digit jobbie as you rarely have to put it in.

This, I use an 8 digit pin code now instead of 4 in conjunction with the touch ID.

One thing I do find annoying is how often I have to re-enter my Apple ID password though before I can use the touch ID for certain logins.

I'll update the pin to 8 digit in that case.

Was really asking if you could set it to Touch ID only (ie no pin at all)
