Hi there,

I am interested in setting up a setting up a small media pc with a touch screen monitor.

Has anyone used a touch screen monitor. I need to get one quite cheap and I have been a couple of the olnine auction site for around £115 for 8" (import) which seems perfect for what i am doing.

It would just be used for watching DVDs and media files.

Thanks

Yeah i've used a few touch screens before. I bought an 8" one myself, don't know how much use it would be for films really since its so small. Cost me £190 delivered. I don't know how much use the touch screen would be, depends what interface you're going to use. I bought it as i was writing an interface to enter data into a database, but there was only room for about 15 buttons on it (native resolution of 640 x 480), so it wouldn't be great for navigating windows.

Hi there,

Well the idea was to hook it up to a computer and mount it onto a expanding and retracting bracket on the wall so i can move it around.

From that I could play DVDs and AVIs and I wouldn't have to have a seperate keyboard and mouse on my desk and wouldnt have to prat around with a KVM switch which doesnt even work with my keyboard and mouse.

That way I could load the movies just using the stylus or my fingure with no quibbles.

I was originally going to get a 7" Portable DVD player but that doesnt play my AVIs and if i did want it to I would have to prat around with burning them onto CDs and DVDs etc......

Its just for playing movies whilst i work or browse so I wasnt really looking for the "ultimate cinematic experience" and needed a small screen and saw these and thought perfect.

Thanks....

Yeah it'd be fine for that I imagine, it's just you would really have to use a stylus for doing anything at all.

Thinking about it, the one i bought was intended for use to play movies in cars, so I imagine it would be ok to use for that. :)
