Touch screen

I have now got windows 7 home premium that I will be installing and wondered if anyone has used a touch screen monitor with it.

The idea seems good but just how reliable are the current crop of touch screen monitors??

If they are anything like my iPod touch,s screen I will be impressed.

Depends if it was a resistive or capacitive touch screen. AFAIK, capacitive would be very expensive for a monitor sized touch panel, but it would give the best response as you literally only have to touch it, rather than press it in, to register a touch. The iPod touch uses a capacitive screen, just so you know.

However, only experience can tell you how good touch screens actually are, which is where I can't help you.

I have reviewed the Iiyama ProLite T2250MTS here. It was very responsive as a touch screen as it incorporated infrared sensors in the bezel rather than relying on the kind of technologies you'd find in a smartphone. As a touchscreen it was very impressive, but as you'll see in my review it's not a concept I am a big fan of for desktop computing.

Having tired the touch screen Sony AIO i'm also a bit tetchy about them. Brilliant fun using the touch pack but the rather large bezel is rather annoying when you want to touch things at the edge of the screen, such as the start buttom and the close, resize and minimise buttons... Touch is a great idea on computers, but only on hand held devices and devices that lie flat really.
