I started putting my build together this morning while waiting for my Graphics card of choice to come back into stock, and I managed to get off to a pretty stupid start.

I was taking the plastic cover that goes over the CPU socket off when I dropped it and tried to catch it before it landed (no idea why, it's not like it was going to damage anything) and I managed to get my big fat (but mostly clean) fingers onto the pins.

There is absolutely 0 damage to the pins, but my sweaty fingertips have probably smeared them. Is this in any way something I need to worry about, the way things are going for me I feel I would do more harm than good in making any attempt to clean them and feel they may be best left alone.

Static wise I should be fine as I have made sure to touch my case often to discharge any static.

It's my first build in about 5 years so I'm probably just being paranoid lol.

Will be fine, depends how sweaty your hand was really :p

Unless there's physical drops of sweat it'll be fine.

Nah, it's not that bad, not yet anyway. My computer case has damaged cables though, so the motherboard is going to have to go back in the anti-static bag and in the box till the replacement arrives. I assume it's fine to leave the processor in there while storing it?

Cpu wil be fine in the board if it is seated so don't worry about that as for the sweat on pins if your really worried just give it enough time for whatever moisture you think might have got in to dry out and your good to go :).

Can't see anything being wrong, I'm sure some people will get all emotional about you touching something you "shouldn't"...and yes, as long as your CPU is seated in the board, slapping it in the bag won't do it any harm.
