touchpad on asus k55a laptop help

hi

purchased one of these second hand with the hope of putting linux on it

its running windows 8 and the touch pad is nice and smooth , as soon as i load any linux distro the touchpad keeps stopping and starting

its like its not running smooth over the desktop

currently stuck with windows 8 :-(

You could look at Manjaro to see if the latest kernel helps. Also did you try the distro specific forums for any help?

my next port of call was going to be the specific forums for each distro if i cant get it sorted

looks like its a hardware problem

i noticed i had a gap down one side of the touchpad so twisted the bottom half of the laptop and now its working fine

its very plasticy

have split the 1tb into 10 so i get to use all my fave distros :-)

what a pile of crap this uefi and windows 8 is

i dont want to format the whole hardrive but it might be the only way to go
