Looking at getting a table made out of black glass as I love the look of them, Has to be tough though as my PC, Monitor etc... will be going on it.

Any suggestions for 1 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg ?

I would never use a glass top desk to put my pc on. All it takes is a sharp tap with something metal on the edge and it'll shatter. Just imagine if it did break and then your pc would fall straight through .

Black glass?

I've got a clear glass desk, as pointed out above it will scratch easily, main thing that got mine was ceramic plates and cups, get a mat to put down on it to protect it.

The other issue you'll have with black is, every single speck of dust, hair, grease or anyother detritus stands out and will make it look grubby.

Hmm, Good point, Would be nice if smokey black transparent desks existed that didn't cost a mortgage and were as strong as solid wood :)

My place is pretty clean, Gets cleaned a lot and I have a coaster down for any drinks so it wouldn't be an issue :)

i currently use to ikea galant desks that are solid black glass and i havent had a problem with either of my both have pc's on them 1 has 2 monitors plus a full watercooled pc the other has a printer a micro atx pc and a single monitor.
