Hi there,

I going to have a go at this next Jan - anyone else here come across this? Looks like a great test for endurance!! Training already stamina wise and I've been going down the gym for a while to build up strength but reckon the cold could be a big problem!! lol

Sign up people!! ;)

Wow that looks good. There's no way I'd be able to do it through the season though, might have a look at the summer one.

lol, going through a mental phase at the mo, I just abseiled 450 ft down the side of Guys hospital in London.... Couple of lads are doing it at work so we're just gonna help eachother out. I'm not too bothered about the time I just want to complete it to be honest.!!!

Nettle Stings - well its not called "Tough Guy" for nothing.

We cultivate Giant Nettles, they are back...and due to the recent "wettest drought" that we have seen for a long time this year they are meaner, taller and packed with more groin girding venom than ever before!
Why not get sponsored 50p per sting (willy specials @ 75p).
Win a special edition shirt for photo of most stung body.
See Skonie’s nettle advice...
Sounds excellent.

me and a mate were going to do this a couple of years back but I had ankle trouble. Might look into it for January now.

It says to take your 10 mile run time and double it.

Or in my case triple it! lol, ran 5 miles last night 8m 20 secs per mile roughly so I reckon i'm looking at 10 min miles and's that purely treadmill work. When it gets a bit colder I'm going to attempt some cross country stuff but for the moment I just want to get reasonably fit!!

On their leaderboard I think the slowest finisher was approx 4 hours. My 10 miler is approx 1:20 but I know that it also becomes harder and harder for me to continue after that. I also know that there may be some strange excercises involved, which may take more of a hit on me than running.

Well I finally did this event on Sunday just gone!

It was a shame as they messed up the start, so everyone pretty much went off at the same time (circa 5500 people) which was a as it meant there were big queues at the obstacles. Made it in just over 3 hours and avoided injury. If a clear run was possible I reckon 2 hours mayve just under is possible but I don't think i'll be doing it again as it took an awful lot out of me. The water tests were by far the hardest as the temp must have been 0C.

Anyway i'm now looking at doing this

So did anyone else do Toughguy?

No swearing - Gilly

loads of people from my boxing club did it last year, this is the one where you have to roll over burning stacks of hay and stuff?

I need to train properly this time rounds though so will be checking out Gordy's thread on how to build up muscle etc etc.

That looks A LOT of fun! I bet you had a right good time :)

Indeed I did - felt it the day after though.

Looking forward to Summer though as it will present different challenges, mostly the cold was the worst in January, obviously Heat could be a facotr in the summer but I'm more worried about the hard ground taking it's toll on my knees!!
