Tower on floor or desk?

Hi,

I was wondering where most people put their towers - carpet, stand + carpet, mat + carpet, desk etc? Just trying to figure out how concerned I should be over dust and possibly static.

Thanks!

1st PC -Floor (it's a wood floor)

2nd PC - on a piece of board on the floor (the floor is carpeted)

Both PC's have psu at bottom with psu fan sucking air in from the floor region - which is why why the second pc is on a board upon the carpet.

Overall , given the size of the cases, I am happier that they are on the floor as I'm trying to keep desk space but keep heat levels, dust (and bits of carpet) to as minimal level as I can. :)

Would also mention that I find more and more that I only touch the case when switching on ! (and leaning to use is no hassle anyway)

On the floor beside my desk (floor is carpet) sitting on a piece of wood, as the PSU is at bottom and the fan sucks air in from the floor.
Works very well, hardly any dust gets in the PSU (fan has a filter which stays rather clean).

Sounds like the best option - elevate it off the carpet but not so much to the desk - don't particularly fancy that. Off to B&Q for some wood then!

I find PC dust intake depends as much on the environment in general as it does about positioning (floor, desk, carpet, hard floor).

Ive got a Lian Li PC60N, Very tidy on a desk. It all depends on your desk obviously. I still get dust on and around the case but it is manageable.
