Game Summary:
Towns, a city building and management game mixed with an RPG that draws inspiration from titles spanning Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Majesty. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, players oversee the town that houses and caters the hero's needs.

Along the way, players can craft unique weapons, obtain randomized loot and build a settlement capable of holding back the forces that rise up from the active dungeon upon which the town sits.

I remember when this first emerged, very basic at first ofcourse but he's done an amazing job now.

I think he posted on the RPS forums about it.

Anyone want to post some screenies? :)

Plenty here. :)

I've had a good couple of sessions with Towns now, and I'm really enjoying it (now that I've figured out how to stop everyone starving to death all the time). I love designing the village and making sure everyone has plenty of work to do etc.

So far I've only scratched the surface; haven't made soldiers yet, nor have I dug down more than one level to find dungeons and whatever other nastiness may be down there.

At the moment I'm a bit stuck getting new citizens; I've built personal rooms for everyone, and an extra for an immigrant, but now I keep getting a message saying something like immigrants don't have a path to the colony! Not sure what I'm missing, it's not like my town is walled off or anything. I'm loath to build a bridge yet because of those vicious froggy dudes.

Can anyone help?

P.S. Imminent update will give us priority lists! YES!

Heh, it's easy really, the trick is to make sure there's always someone doing it once you've set it up.

I start with bread. I make a 9x9 tilled area and fill it with 9 wheat farms. Then I stick a mill next to that. Next I build a bakery with a table and oven, then use the tools -> baking menus to select five loaves of bread (I think the selector to the right of the bread is what sets the maximum number you want). Five seems to work well at the beginning; it's enough to keep everyone fed, but not so much that they do nothing but bake. Don't forget a stockpile - you could use a container for prepared foods but I prefer stockpiles for food because you can tell at a glance what your food levels are like.

Once I have a good baking chain set up, I set up a couple of pig farms (provided there's iron around). Pork is a better meal; it keeps the villagers full for longer.

Been playing this game for the last 2 weeks, really quite addicted to it now. It's great for those post 11pm gaming sessions where you don't want to have to concentrate too hard.

Once you learn how to manage food it's really just a matter of designing your town, protecting your townies from sieges and exploring the dungeons. Great little game and well worth the £10, even more so because it's going to indie devs rather than a publisher.

I'm waiting for a couple more updates. As things stand, any time I start a game the frog people are on the same side of the water as me, so as soon as they start killing things (and indirectly producing resources) my villagers keep wandering over to gather stuff and get killed.

Oh, and I never seem to get a good deposit of iron to mine either.

As soon as there are better options for setting starting conditions I'll be back in.

Been playing this from last night. A really fun little game so far and I think I might even pre-order it for £7.95 off Gamersgate.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this one grows.

Right as you start right click all your townies and set them all as soldier. They'll murder that froggy camp in 5 seconds flat.
