What do you guys think of the toyota soarer, a friend has one, a 1994 3.0L auto coupe with 105K miles on the clock. He is gonna sell it due to a new baby (3rd) on the way and needs a larger car. Is it a good car, whats performance etc like on it?
What do you think this car is worth, worth paying to buy it, its in very good condition btw? If i was to buy it i'd get a bit of discount i'd imagine.
Thanks in advance guys :)

Buy it!!! :)

Even if its just for the engine

Edit: Just noticed you said 3 litre and not 4 litre.

Get the 4 Litre V8 :D

Really good cars, though the 3 litre engine is the worst of the bunch and insurance is the same as the 2.5 turbo and 4 litre v8.

I'm selling mine at the moment if anyone interested.

Is the 3.0 litre the 3VZ-FE or the 1MZ-FE?

If it is it can also be found in the camry :p

But once you take out all the bloody emitions BS you can get it pumping out 300 nay nays or more:D

Just found out the engine :)

Its the 2JZ-GE

2JZ-GE

The 2JZ-GE is a common version. Output is 215 to 230 hp JIS (158 to 169 kW) at 5800 to 6000 rpm and 209 to 220 ft.lbf (283 to 298 Nm) of torque at 3800 to 4800 rpm.

It uses SEFI fuel injection, has an aluminum head and 4 valves per cylinder with some versions using VVT-i, along with a cast iron cylinder block.

Not a bad car.. Luxobarge really... Good for cruising nice and comfy. They are pretty heavy though so dont think its going to be nimble. Funny thing is that in japland the autos fetch MORE money than the manual as i think the manual was only available in certain engines... A guy i know has one with a 500bhp+ MKIV Supra engine in it... Tiff Needel was driving it for two rounds of the D1GB... Would rather see that as a mad motorway monster though... ;)

I think for every 100 soarers only one is a manual, and only the 2.5 turbo model ever had a manual transmission.

In practice this means the manuals go for about twice the price of the autos over here, and are usually in worse condition.

Slightly OT but one guy said:

"I'd say a 20v Turbo Fiat Coupe. 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds. £40 chip, 5.7 seconds. Can probably pick one up for 2-3K."

Is that true?!

Who said that? Was it Bug One?

If it is him then i would believe him :)

what is insurance gonna be like with this approx? I am 28 years old, have 2 fault accidents, 1 sp30 (3 points & £60 fine) and 1 years ncb. Currently pay £650 TPF&T on a mitsubishi carisma 1.6glxi. Live in east london
Thanks guys :)
