Soldato
Thought it was about time I started a thread for this seeing as things have started to get organised.
Many of you will be aware that me and Vix have run a supercharged mk1 MR2 in the Toyota Sprint Series in the last 2 seasons with some success and we're planning to have another go in 2010, this thread will be for us to update you on our progress as well as trying to get more of you to come along either to support us or to compete yourselves.
What is sprinting?
Sprinting is a form of motorsport where cars are timed over a short twisty circuit with a standing start and a flying finish. Cars run one at a time so it's just you against the clock. Cars are split into classes based on performance. Fastest time wins. The format allows for cars to be shared (2 drivers is common, 3 is possible but not recommended) to reduce costs.
What is TSS?
TSS is a sprint series aimed at encouraging Toyota/Lexus owners to take their cars on track and get involved in competitive motorsport, it very much encourages the use of regular road cars (MOT is mandatory) and no specialist preparation is required. All models of Toyota/Lexus are eligible, last season saw everything from Aygos to Soarers entering.
What if I Don't have a Toyota/Lexus?
Last season saw the creation of class 'X' for invitation cars of any make. Should there be a need to increase the size of the entry this year that may well happen again.
How much does it cost?
In 2010 the entry cost per round will £100. Should you wish to contest the whole season and be eligible for points you will be required to make an up front payment of £120 (£20 per round) then pay £80 per round before each event. If you are only entering a couple of rounds then these can be entered on a reserve basis if space permits. Invitation class entries may cost slightly more as there is no requirement for invitation class cars to carry series sponsorship stickers.
Where and When?
The provisional 2010 calendar is as follows:
March 21st Rockingham, Northamptonshire
April 4th Barkston Heath, Lincolnshire
June 6th Sculthorpe, Norfolk
July 24th Barkston Heath, Lincolnshire (Reverse direction course)
September 19th Woodbridge, Suffolk
October 16th Tockwith Autodrome, York
What regulations does my car need to comply with?
