TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapters, issues?

Hey guys, so I've got the following adapter listed above, here is the link to the specs page: http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/cat-18_TL-PA4010KIT.html

Now over the past week or so, I've noticed a few issues with the adapter. What has been happening is essentially the speed from the adapters has completely dropped, so for example.

I went to bed, downloading some things on Steam, I awoke and I noticed that one of them hadn't finished because my pc went into auto-sleep mode, I resumed it and realised that I was getting crap download speeds (I'm on BT Infinity, 80/20) so this was very weird, I did a speed test and was only getting 10-15/down and then I launched up the Powerline Utility program and noticed that my network rate/speed was only like 19mbps.

So I had to reset all devices and then go downstairs and re-sync them.

Does anyone know what may be causing this? are they dying? etc?

Any help would be advised, I will go ahead and buy a new one if need be, also if any of you guys have any recommendations of a.) a good powerline adapter that is currently better than the one I'm using and b.) A good replacement wi-fi card that is also better than the current one I'm using which is an Asus PCE-N53 300MBPS.

Thanks

Edit:

I'd also like to point out that I do in-fact also have a Wifi card in my PC, but for some reason it will never allow me to reach full speeds, for example. On my Powerline adapter, I'll get 60-74down / 18up, but on the wifi card, I only ever get about 30-40down / 18up, so it's not exactly a viable solution especially when I download, watch streams, upload etc (quite heavily) on a daily basis.

Have you tried seeing if there is a newer firmware update for the devices?
I seem to recall TP-Link powerline adapters having issues with sleep modes.
