Afternoon guys, I've just had a TP-Link AX20 delivered in the hope of improving our home network a little bit. I was with Virgin Media in the past and their hubs allowed modem only mode but I've just looked into it and found out TalkTalk do not allow this.

Is there anyway I can still make use of the AX20 to improve our network without the TalkTalk Hub being in modem only mode? I know you can disable the wireless networks but will it cause issues basically having two routers?

Apologies if this is a stupid question, networking isn't a strong point of mine.

It has an access point mode (according to their website).

In AP mode you'd be able to use the AX20's wireless and still have a flat network (no double NAT). The TalkTalk router will handle everything else.

You could also buy a separate VDSL modem to use with it. The old Openreach HG612 modems are still a viable option.

That's an option, would I still see a decent enough stability and coverage improvement? Would I need to disable the two WiFi networks on the TalkTalk router to avoid having two separate signals?

The wireless would be just the same as it would be with the AX20 in router mode, no idea how good or bad that would be.

I would disable the TalkTalk wireless, or at least make sure you're using different channels.
