so recently (today) i built a new system after buying the parts from overclockers. could not be happier aside from one thing.
the tp-link wireless pci card TL-WN851ND is NOT COMPATIBLE with windows 8.1, as of yet there is no fix and the tplink website is down. i would note that perhaps ocuk could note this on the product page here

in no way is this meant to detriment ocuk, i contacted them via phone and within minutes had a return shipping label and refund code, some of the best customer service i've experienced.
finally, can anyone suggest a wireless card for a similar price (10-15 pounds) that is KNOWN to work with windows 8.1?
