Hey all,

I bought a 200Mbps TP-Link Powerline starter kit from OcUK here last June, and I just realised this morning the upstairs unit isn't working at all...

There are no lights showing at all, and it isn't making any sort of connection - I've tried it in other plug sockets and still nothing...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Marky

It's obvious i know but have you checked there is power at the socket?

A few weeks back I very nearly took a new TV back to the store because it appeared dead.

The missus was sat reading the destructions (blokes don't do instruction do they) at the time and said "it says here you need to turn the power button on the left hand side" me "darling I'm an electrical engineer and I can assure you the power is on" missus "no it's not there is another power switch on the left" me "look dear the power is on" missus walked over flicked said switch and TV came on! lol :o

Hahaha :D Yeah it's definitely not the socket - I've tried it in multiple sockets and still nothing :(

Oh god..... I bet you're still hearing about it!

Looks like a replacement is the only way. :(

I have three identical to yours for maybe a couple of years (certainly well over a year) and they are still going strong. :D

Perhaps a surge took it out as billysielu suggested or just luck of the draw. You can't really protect them against surges because they need to be connected direct to the power socket, i.e. not via a surge protector, to get the best performance.

Yeah I think so... Just off to see if there was any warranty of them...

Gives me a good reason to change them for wireless ones :p

I went through about 5 of the 85MB tp-link ones which kept failing in the same way, gave up on them eventually :(

Its probably just a fuse inside which has blown, but they seem to use security screws on these kind of things so it becomes annoying to try and repair.

3 year warranty with them (I got a pair today).

Gotta say I think they are fantastic to say I had never heard of powerline adapters until this year.

Marky have used the 'Utilty Powerline utility that came with them.
Or download it here. http://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/?model=TL-PA211KIT#down

There is a option in there some where to Reset them, Connect, plus several other options as well, might be worth a try, it's all in the manual here.

Thanks I'll give it a whirl - but I don't think it'll do much... they look completely dead :p

Ahh that's good to know :) I'll have to see about getting in touch with their support...
