Hi all,

I have just installed tp-link powerline (so internet signal passes through the mains) and its working great with 10ms ping and 2ms jitter from pingtest.net.

This is the product and its making a high pitched whistling noise. For me it is noticeably audible and as its in my bedroom its going to annoy me when I try to sleep. (I could turn the power off however as its pass through this means rearranging my plugs so i can charge phone etc. so not really practical). I was just wondering is this noise normal if anyone else has it. I'm just wondering should I reorder because the noise isn't normal, change product, or is this noise normal for all and i'm just going to have to a) live with it or b) switch to wireless adapter.

Thanks

I get this from mine same make but different model. I find that if they are linked to a device which is powered on, such as a computer or switch, the noise is less.

hmm, thats annoying then. I have both plugs linked and I have them attached to extension cables. With or without however then noise is still the same =( ... I just find it strange that no one else in the reviews has complained about the noise they make...

I'm not sure it's normal. I have 3 units and I have one which is far worse than the other two. THankfully I put that one in the garage so it isn't an issue otherwise I would have returned it.

Hmm maybe ill try a return. See what others say first.

EDIT

I have just found this while reading the document guide.

"Five minutes after the device connected to the Ethernet port of the Homeplug is powered off, the Homeplug will switch to power-saving mode automatically. In power-saving mode, the Homeplug cannot be accessed via the electrical wiring, but its integrated electrical socket can supply the power normally."

Im going to try this and see if the noise is still apparent. If its not then I can live with the noise while computer is on.
