TP-Link routers

I use TP-Link Powerline Ethernet adaptors (x3) and they are fantastic, and were excellently priced, so I don't get the TP-Link hate.

Cheap and work well... that's my kind of manufacturer :D

I have just got a tp-link wd8960n, and it sync higher than my old kit. Took a while to get it set up with o2 (the interent light is still not on, but its working fine).

I had 2 Billion 7800n`s and 1 was DOA the other just did not work.

FYI the internet light won't come on unless you use the router as a cable router then it comes on, I know this as I have gone from O2 bband to Bt infinity and just enabled the virtual lan ports and set one to a wan port and bingo internet light comes on and I got a 40 quid router that is better than the HH3 working on a fibre line!!! woot!

Point being I did not have to buy another router as the TP-link does it all, their support is very good too.

Mine is the WD8960n by the way.

Can you remember the setting for o2,

Oh my now your asking lol, a quick google should net you better results, part of using the 8960N as a cable router is deleting the DSL connection so I can't even check.

Sorry about that.

Unrelated... Did you used to play Arma 2? Your name rings a bell, if so it's Rob from GOL.

Ok I had an apiphany on the way home, choose LLC not VC/Mux 0,101 and bridged mode.

That's all i Remember.

Hi Rob, Yes I used to play Arma 2 not sure I remember you but Hi !

I have a W8961ND which I found was decent enough. I experienced a slightly lower SNR reading with the TP-Link than I did with my DG384GT and had to retire it for a while as BT were fixing my line issues and the TP-Link failed to connect properly. It made no difference to my connection speed though.

Now that my line is fixed and solid I really should get the TP-Link back in place instead of the Netgear as I find the wifi on the Netgear flaky.

The user interface on the TP-Link is comprehensive and to be honest totally bewilders me and I could never find out how to set it up as a router only but it was easy enough to set up as a modem/router.
