TP-Link TD-8817 modem won't establish an internet connection

I'm pulling my hair out that something I thought was simple (perhaps it still is!) can be so frustrating! My TP-Link TD-8817 modem happily connects to my home's BT ADSL Max service but won't then establish an internet connection. Please will you be kind enough to look at the following screen-scrapes and advise where I may be going wrong.

Grateful thanks,
E6600

You dont seem to have any details in the username/password field?
If it's like infinty you need something in the password field, even if there is no password. Worth a try?

Many thanks, dfarrall, but I've tried that.
I believe that there is no need for a password with BT ADSL Max (see final comment below) but anyway I've tried:

[email protected] / No password
[email protected] / "BT" as the password (which several websites suggest)
My own btopenworld e-mail address / No password
My own btopenworld e-mail address / My correct password

My old Home Hub v1 (which I am using to connect and write this post) uses the first option: [email protected] / No password

I am sure that with my even older Netgear DG834 I could put any old crap in the login field (and no password) as it is not actually used.

Well, I'll now eat some humble pie as I have learned that the username and password are significant - at least if a Home Hub is not being used.

Although I always use my e-mail address with its btopenworld.com domain, I just tried configuring the TP-Link router to use the btinternet.com equivalent instead, along with my password.

As you can see (because I am using the new router now), it worked.

As obvious as it is, thanks for the pointer!
