TP-Link TD-W9980 and now broadband

Can any one reconmemd a good router that will be better then the now broadband hub 2 router that will work better on wireless

'Better' is a subjective term, what specifically isn't the supplied router doing that you want it to? If it's wifi range/coverage, then they all output at the same legally limited power levels, while antennae efficiency/design/quantity can and does make a difference, you would usually always be better off with a centrally located AP for general coverage. Unfortunately slow clients can impact other wireless devices and the overall network. If it's actually a router function that you're lacking, you need to tell us what that is.

I have around 100 pounds to spend

Again, is it just Wi-Fi and if so is coverage or speed the concern? Are you OK running a cable to a central location for an AP? If not then mesh may be better, but good mesh requires a wired back haul, OK mesh requires dedicated backhaul radio and cheap mesh is just nasty/pushes client and backhaul over the same radio. Either way, please tell us what exactly you need that the supplied router isn’t doing.
