A few days ago i finished my new build and i wont be getting the internet in my place until the end of this month. in the mean time my brother gave me his wireless dongle but no driver cd, i downloaded the driver for win7 64 and put it on usb. i tried to install the driver but comes up with a message saying it cant be found, i have tried this with all usb ports and still the same message but windows does make the noise to show that something has just been plugged in  iv also tried a manual install like it is recommended on the website but the usb wasnt found there either. what am i doing wrong?

hope someone can help

You sure you've downloaded the right driver? Just looked on TP-Link's website and the TL-WN851N is actually a PCI card rather than a USB dongle.

List where? on the website? There should be a sticker somewhere on the dongle with the correct model and what version it is (some dongles have 1 or 2 versions).

yeah the list on the website gave me the wrong one and yeah the model number is on the dongle, i found the v3 driver from the a different website and it all seems to be working fine now though. thanks guys :)

Pleased its working but what website did you get it from? Just I wouldn't recommend getting drivers from anywhere other than the manufacturers own website. The correct driver will be on TP-Link's I just think you've selected the wrong one from the huge list of drivers it gives you.
