Hello
I've bought a set tplink powerline av600s (600 wired 300 wireless booster) to keep my main computer wired but it seems to be abit of a con, they are 600mbs i can only select 100mbps on my boards network card i select 1gbps and it won't detect it i select auto and i get 100 how are you supposed to get 600 they have on the box?

Anyone shed some light before i use them as clay pigeons

Cheers
Daz

Powerline throughput only ever achieves a smallish fraction (20-25%) of the rated speed even under ideal conditions. The rated speeds are correct, but the figure they're quoting probably isn't what you think it is.

What are the actual model numbers of the devices you have?

WPA4220 i am getting 500 between the two plugs according to the tplink app i just cannot connect to it faster than 100mbps from my computer

They've only got 100Mbps Ethernet ports so that's what you'll connect at.

The actual potential throughput is very unlikely to exceed 100Mbps so it probably isn't a limitation.

What throughput are you actually seeing?

10MBps is 80Mbps. A 100Mbps port is capable of 12.5MBps. The 100Mbps ports aren't your limitation.

If you want a fast connection run a cable, otherwise live with the limitations.

The adapters you have are old school AV500. There are now faster versions available, but they still won't get anyway near what a cable will offer.

Take heed of @bremen1874 The thing we'd hate you to do is take them back and expect anything significantly better by buying replacement powerline adapters of a different variety/brand. It'd be a waste of money.
