Tracing my Mac mini monitor issue

As you know I have an issue where the monitor flashes picture-black-picture like a strobe. Switching the monitor off for a couple of hours then switching on again seems to allow synchronisation and the system is useable (until sleep, or a crash/reset).

I had a look at the Console Log whilst it's doing it and there's lots of ".. [Short_Pulse] FB0 .." log entries.
Edit: infact the driver just crashed and restarted... "default 13:13:06.723477 +0100 kernel [IGFB][INFO ] [Short_Pluse] FB0 port = 1 at 77619857924" .. this is showing a hot plugin issue.

Searching Google on this shows the Intel UHD documentation: https://01.org/sites/default/files/documentation/ilk_ihd_os_vol3_part2r2_0.pdf

This has a section that defines the register values for short and long pulse for when the UHD chip performs hot plugin detection.

Digital_Port_A_Hot_Plug_Short_Pulse_Duration
Project: All
Default Value: 0b
These bits define the duration of the pulse defined as a short pulse.

00b 2ms 2 ms All
01b 4.5ms 4.5 ms All
10b 6ms 6 ms All
11b 100ms 100 ms All

This makes me think that what's happening is that it's hot plug negotiation is mis-matching. Possibly the new settings are causing the UHD to reset the link repeatedly.

This is making me think it's a Intel driver issue that's in the drivers built into OSX.

It's funny because the non-Apple installers have found a Intel Frame Buffer (BF) issue that needs patching specifically todo with Hot Plugging thunderbolt ... ie USB-C! Come on Apple - pick up and pressure Intel to fix their shoddy drivers!
