Recently it has come to our attention that a block of TrackIR 5 units were subject to a production error. The problem has since been remedied, but unfortunately some units were shipped before the error was noticed. A common symptom of this hardware failure involves extensive visual noise in the Camera View within the TrackIR software. Often the visual noise appears as a series of red lines. A less pronounced behavior, where green markers from the TrackClip look blotchy/wavy like ink blots, is also an indication of a hardware failure that should be returned for repair.
Please note that it is possible that this behavior will not appear upon initial usage. It might take several 15+ minute sessions before the hardware begins to fail.
