Track Racing! How??

Yeh. I'm 98 kg in race mode :p. It's only really noticeable on the uphill parts. But bayford has a lot of those

Where are you based ChroniC?

Portsmouth.
The closest circuit I can find that isn't just a Teamsport/Go-karting for fun, (there are two indoor ones very close) is Andover.

I have Thruxton, Goodwood, Matchams, around me within an hour. Is it quite normal to have to travel around a fair bit?

Portsmouth isn't too far! I thought you were going to say Scotland or something.

Nearly all of the club100 circuits are within a 2 hour drive from you (Whilton Mill, Buckmore, Rye House, Clay Pigeon etc). It's well worth travelling as they visit some of the best kart circuits in the country.

Thruxton, Goodwood and Matchams aren't allowed to run 2 stroke karts (noise restrictions). The closest circuit to you is probably Forest Edge (near Barton Stacey) - they do have popular MSA club meetings, but due to restricted running days (It is MOD owned land) the test days are busy so you'd probably end up travelling further for decent track time anyway.

Unless you were lucky enough to have a decent circuit on your doorstep, you'll have to put up with a bit of travelling regardless of what you end up racing. You'll be travelling a lot more if you raced something like Formula Vee!

Thruxton kart circuit has noise restrictions? What a joke. The place is in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere, next to a race circuit!

Makes me laugh a little that Goodwood also has noise restrictions also for its track days. Now I don't know if the track starts to back up towards Chichester, but last time I checked the most that was near it was fields and horse racing. :D

The full Thruxton circuit is only used for racing a few weekends a year because of noise restrictions too :(
It's the same story across the country for car and kart circuits ... too many Nimby's moving next door to the circuit THEN complaining!

Yep. Castle Combe lost its GT and F3 spot due to people in an estate that has existed for less than half the age of the track complaining :(.

The worst one is Brands GP loop. There is a housing estate that backs right up against it, again younger than the track. It is impossible for anyone to have bought a house their without knowing there was a race track next to it, yet complaints about noise mean its limited to about 7 weekends a year :(.

Anyway, back on topic, a few mates and I at a previous job looked quite seriously at doing Club100, but then I moved away and so did another guy and I think they canned the idea. It looks like a great way to get into racing without spending ££££'s.
