So I've had a look and cannot find any threads on trackdays?

I have had Spa Francorchamps booked since January with a couple of friends. Were heading out there for a trackday on the 9th May. Before that on the 8th we are heading for the Nurburgring also which will be my 5th visit to the place.

Anyone else got any fantastic trips or trackdays planned. Or even joining me at Spa on the 9th?

Matt

There's a few who do regular track days here, and others of us who dabble.

Personally I've got a trip to the ring booked for July 23rd/24th, and will try to get in at least one track day in the UK before I go.

Had a 'ring trip planned for some time but it's still up in the air and looking like end of season if at all. Couple of dates set in stone doing Three sisters drift day on Saturday, and RAF Marham end of May. Want to do Cadwell over summer and will most likely do 1 or 2 evenings at Donington which has become a bit of a tradition.
Need to experiment with tyres because AD08R don't last anything like as long as the old AD08 and they are costing me a fortune. Last set of R's lasted 1500mi including 2 trackdays (1 of which was wet), shockingly bad.

Is that through a track day organiser or a tourist day? I did an organised day last year and it was brilliant, full track to yourself. This year will be a tourist day though.

RAF Marham end of May.

If you've never done Marharm before be warned, the last few years have been a car sand-blasting nightmare. Good fun in a "not fussed about the cosmetics" track-car but road car will get chipped to buggery. Some of the older PH threads about it are full of complaints.

I've been out with my mates Track Clio on one before he left for Australia and it looked like someone had taken a shotgun to his bumper, bonnet, wings etc.

Tourist drive. I don't have a proper track day car and I wouldn't consider a track day event at the ring without one really. One lap is plenty for a road car before you need to give it a rest and let everything cool down in my opinion. The attraction of a ring track day is not having to get off the circuit each lap and having the GP circuit as well. I wouldn't want to put a road car through that sort of punishment to be honest!

Not track day as such but I am booked in both for Goodwood and Silverstone this summer. Doing a Euro trip to Poland and Lithuania this summer so may as well stop by the ring on the way home! Planning to do Cadwell again during the summer Holidays.

I also like that fact that it's shut to a small group only and you get less if not nobody that doesn't respect other drivers. Tourist days can attract a lot of cars and what can come with that is people that think they are racing drivers.

I agree, but I tend to get out on track mostly in the morning, It often doesn't get busy until after lunchtime. I last went in June and did three laps in the morning and saw only two other cars on track, one lap I didn't see a single car.

Afternoons/evenings are a bit different though!

I've done the 'ring twice now, once for my stag do and once for my best mates stag do. Both were just tourist days when we were there. Also my mates were on motorbikes so that was the only way we could all do laps together anyway!

I did quite a few in my old STi at Anglesey as it's only 20 mins from my house and did one evening at Donnington which was ace. Sold that car over a year ago now though and didn't do anything in it for a while before i sold it either so it's probably almost 2 years since ive been on track now! Currently doing an old car up so i can start doing the odd day again as i really miss it.

I was at Cadwell last weekend in a scooby.
Done about 10 track days now, really enjoy it. But always doing it in other people's cars, so need to get my own really, but having a classic car and bike already so I'm struggling for space.
I will look into getting something sorted next year so I can drive my own car. Driving someone else's is always a bit scary :D

I went to Spa couple of years ago, it is my favourite circuit, absolutely incredible. I think we did a 2:39 lap if memory serves me right, it was incredible fun and scary due to the speed involved for such lap times.

Love the place, really want to go again, but probably won't happen this year as I am taking a lot of holidays, just like I did last year, deja vu. :D

I've still got the track car, still do the odd track day in it but mostly do sprints. Been working on a turbo conversion on it over the winter, I had it on the car at one point but had some oil drain issues from the turbo so had to run the first sprint of the season as an n/a. Hoping to get back on it over the next couple of weekends.

Went to Spa last year for 2 days, typical Spa weather, arrived in March to a pile of snow in the paddock and then had blazing hot sun for 2 days, then left in thick fog. Was a great trip although I had to take it easy on the second day as my radiator was on it's last legs and the front pads didn't have a lot left on them.
