Hi all. Does anyone use an app that can track your location when out and about? Sometimes if I'm on an extended ride, the missus would like to reassure herself that I'm still ok. I can't always be arsed to message her, or reply to a message whilst I'm riding, so it's really just for peace of mind for her. Something where you can see the location *move* so she can see I'm still moving. Not particularly fused if it runs 24/7, but might be nice to have the option to disable tracking until I'm actually on the bike.
I do use the Real Rider app, but that's more for automatic crash detection/emergency service calling - can't see a tracking type thing on there.
Cheers

I would give strava a go.
Its mainly a running/cycling app, but there is the beacon option which I use with my wife a lot when shes out running.
Free to use as well on a phone

I got an email yesterday from Google about FindMyPhone coming to Android in a few days. It already has a form of it but now it's going to work offline as well

Whatsapp does it, I use it all the time. It refreshes pretty quickly too, like every 2 seconds or something. Just click on the little attachment icon next to the keyboard, share location, "share live location" and pick for how long. Options are 15 mins, one hour and 8 hours. One thing I've noticed is that when you share location, wait a few seconds before locking your phone as it can take a few seconds for it to actually start broadcasting and if you lock your phone too quickly it'll cancel.

Certainly worth a shot before you go spending any money.
