Win 11/AM5/4090
Yamaha RX-A6A/Epsom LS-12000b, 10M powered HDMI cable.
3480x2096 x 120Hz by 10Bit HDR

Every now and then i get a blank screen or Obvious RGB discoloration when I switch on equipment.
So i assume its a 'negotiation' issue.
Occasionally the screen goes blank and comes back during usage..

I was guessing a HDMI cabling/length issue but power cycling AV amp reliably sorts out the problem for another couple of weeks.
I dont have enough spare equipment for A/B testing.
any experience on what these symptoms do or dont point to?

ah yes it was a typo...its 2160
I see, that was my only suggestion really.

As you're using an active cable it probably takes a few moments to negotiate the signal, which could be causing the issue you describe. Is it powered from a USB port on the amp or projector? You could try powering it off something else or a USB plug adapter.

Thanks ive since found some evidence (AV forums posts) that the amp family struggles with 120hz (at least on XBOX) so will try 60hz for a while and separately your suggestion of a separate USB power.
Currently its powered at the projector end with a usb-a dongle which goes into the dedicated port in the projector.
Would any phone charger suffice as a usb power source.

Yeah I think so, it needs very little power.

My thinking is that if the projector is off it doesn't instantly turn on the usb port so there is a delay with it then talking to the amp, which may already be on.

But I have heard about that 120hz Xbox thing before too so it could just be that.

edit/ can you update the software/firmware on the amp?
