Tracking search engine rankings?

Hi all,

We're currently paying an external company a stupid amount of money for "Search Engine Reports" - i've just seen one, and they basically track our sites for entry keywords, and our positions/visibility for 42 keywords.

They then turn this information into a nice pretty report with a few charts, to show how our 42 keywords are doing - what position, how many other results, what change on last month etc.

We could obviously do this in house, by using one of the many available online tools; do you know of anything automated? Perhaps software, online application, web statistics script etc, that would report our SE rankings on a regular basis?

Many thanks

I did, but not quite the search engine tracking I was looking for.

In the meantime however, I did find a piece of software with a free trial.
Installed it, to see if I could offer an alternative service for work, and discovered it produces identical reports to the ones we pay several hundred pounds a month for. Actually the same report!

Literally, the rip off merchants are charging hundreds of pounds A MONTH by using a piece of free software (or £50 to register it) to generate automated reports. Despite claiming all work is done by hand.

Welcome to the ethos and moral of a majority of SEO agencies :/.
