Anyone have a TrackIR 4:PRO here? Any feedback?

I dont think I can wait any longer so will most likely be getting one, the videos make it look great.

Any UK distributors or am I best to simply order from their U.S site?

I have a TrackIR 2 and it simply rocks for flight sims, I refuse to fly without it now, I've never tried it for racing games as I've yet to play one that supports it. Mine came direct from NaturalPoint and the were excellent to deal with.

The racing game Grid supports it now apparently though I don't know if it your cup of tea as it more arcade based racing rather than sim based.

Thanks for the tip about where to get one I will check them out.

According to their site it will be roughly 100 quid give or take.

I was just wondering from your experience of it is there like "lag" like a delay from when you move your head to it being recreated on screen?

I usually play grid in the first person perspective and not the in car perspective so I was wondering if it still work like that seeming the game supports it.

None for me, if you get noticeable lag then either your game settings are too high or something else is at fault.

Bumper cam? In car perspective is first person.

I have TrackIR 4, it is great, but very overpriced for what is essentially an IR web cam and a few pieces of reflective tape.

There are UK distrubutors listed on the Natural Point website, or just google them. I wouldn't advise importing it, I tried but it but it didn't turn out any cheaper.

I get lag on mine with Lock On (the only TrackIR game I play), but that's probably because Lock On sucks.

While you are essentially correct it is the software that also adds to the cost, and don't forget that by buying a TrackIR you are supporting a good cause in the nsame of naturalpoint who make a lot of stuff for diabled people, it's a good consience easer :)

Been thinking about this myself but leaning towards the much cheaper option with Freetrack. Lots of videos out there to see how it performs. The end result looks no different to TrackIR's to me. All in the setup I suppose.

Marcusw will send you his hat design for a fairly small price. Postage to UK is mentioned on post #133 on page 9.

Lots of info on that site.

I've bought a Microsoft VX1000 webcam as it's mentioned in the forums as compatible with Freetrack. I don't have soldering tools though, which would add to the cost, so might just order from marcusw. So about £20 delivered + webcam. Worth a shot but I'm not one for wearing hats! Might get used to it.

Don't you need to use 3d goggles with this boyo?

I mean, am I being MEGAnumb here?

As I understand it, it tracks me noggin as I move it about right, I look left, the camera looks left, right?
So the monitor is showing the view of the git trying to send one up the inside into the Variante della rogia.....and I'm staring at my bookcase and having an accident?

Have I missed something?

It's scaled, you only need to move your head a little to move the view a lot. Just how much it scales is adjustable and you (well most people seem to) get used to it very quickly and after will feel very constrained without it.

Yeh, they started developing the tech for disabled people so they could use computers, our getting TrackIR was a side product. If you take a look at the smartnav product it allows full pc control using gestures and all sorts.
