Hi I am going to be getting back into flight/driving sims and want something to drive looking around in game as I have a triple monitor setup is the TrackIR5 the right thing to use for this ??

If not what do I need ??

I have used this and thought it was perfect, you can make your own for about £20-30 but I just bought the TrackIR version, it worked fine for me and adds a lot of immersion.

Keep an eye on on the Occulus Rift development, the Dev kit 2 is already looking amazing and available for around £300-350 (approx, based on taxes etc)

Hi thanks for the reply, funny you should mention the Occulus Rift as I was looking at this last night and it does look very interesting.

I will look into a TrackIR

Vote for the edtracker kinda free & Works a treat. Also try facenoir which is free if you have a webcam.

Another endorsement for the edtracker here, it's really adding to my sense of immersion on Elite. I paid for a pre-made box and cable... it's blatantly not a consumer product but nor is it priced to be really.

It's kinda made me think about TrackIR to avoid needing the USB connection but I sit close enough for it not to matter.

I have owned track ir 5 for a couple of years. Mostly play il2 1940/cod/bos online, also use it for arma 3 and elite.

The free versions, while good for the outlay, can't match it.

I'm putting off replacing the pro clip, as when the rift is released track ir will become reduntant!

I made my own for about £20 and whilst it looks utterly ridiculous - it works great. I had a blast with IL2 and FSX.

Cant wait to get Elite Dangerous really and try it out on that.

It definitely makes things a lot more immersive. For me personally I found it unplayable to try and look around the game world using a mouse or thumbstick whilst trying to fly.

I love the Track IR I have I bought the pro clip too but tend to only use the one that attaches to a baseball cap

Great for driving games and I have used it in elite dangerous

Have the OR DK2 but the resolution is a limiter, as is lack of being able to see in some games. Very tempted to get a TrackIR for DCS/FSX etc, ie games where the resolution in DK2 just isn't up to it.

Worth the £150 notes? Could make a DIY one but not convinced I have the skill or the patience for it!
