Is it possible to use the stock cooler's base plate to cool the RAM and vrms with the Trad2? If it is possible is it better to do that or use the ram/vrm heatsinks which come with the cooler? I've heard they arn't that good for cooling the vrms.

Hi.
Yes it is possible to use the baseplate from the original cooler. You are correct about the VRM cooling - the T-RAD is pretty poor at cooling them but the original plate does a good job while the T-RAD looks after the GPU.

There's a thread about it here.

i can confirm it works a treat mate best move i ever made as i was for gettin rid of the 4870 after only a month of owning it till i did the mod :)

Cool, yeah i read the other thread, pretty impressive that it works even better then getting some fancy custom made heatsinks imported from the US.

Is the base plate the same on the 1gb card?
