Trade in GPUS?

Thing is, sometimes it does pay off so I kind of get trying, but at the same time, as someone who doesn't like dealing with this kind of thing it just immediately makes me annoyed for wasting my time. That said, I'm grateful to have the MM as I've never had a bad experience using it (touch wood).
Me too, I've bought and sold on there and it's been great. It's not perfect, but it's by far the best online resource for buying and selling.

Lol yep. Although it's obvious when it's genuine too, because I literally just have this situation on some RAM I've sold. But I also know the buyer so it's just a weird coincidence you wrote that when you did.

Also, someone's just missed out on a CPU which was priced fairly because they tried to lowball me and now they've missed out, a tale as old as time.

Off topic but you have the Arctic Storm AIO? how is that as I'm looking at my options

Seems fine, main points are:

There is no way I could fit this in my case (O11D Evo) if it wasn't mounted vertically, this is due to the weird placement of the pipes. They stick out too much to put the side on.

Unlike the Suprim it doesn't have a 0% rpm mode, 30% is the minimum but this is probably better for me as it's the only exhaust in my case.

No complaints with the noise of it, cooling seems very effective.

Doesn't undervolt as well as my Suprim but in reality this makes barely any difference, also I guess it's a lottery regardless.

Other than looking hideous it's fine and I think the best value AIO option purely by price.

Oh and terrible design for the RGB header cable on the GPU side, it's in a really stupid place and hard to get in, I had to use tweezers and a screwdriver to poke it in, and this was only so I could turn the RGB off lol. Not sure if I could have done that without the cable tbh.

is my brain broke for thinking these people who buy 4090 for £1600 are idiots? there is no hope for humanity honestly, just put extra £300 and buy a 5090FE or one of the cheaper AIB cards with 2-3 years warranty. What am I missing here? surely they know, so what is the reason for buying all these crazy priced 4090? I can understand at the beginning where 5090 were rare and over priced, but now?

are they selling the 4090 to some guy which ships over to asia or something? I have read they do some kind of VRAM mod to them and use them for AI, up to 96GB of VRAM surely you would rather mod a 5090.

something does not add up, because not everyone is an idiot or are they?

I've never understood this either.

Think some of it is the Asia thing you mentioned, and also the fact the 5090 don't support physics anymore, or something like that ?

I sold mine last week on Facebook for £1500 bank transfer and the guy never saw it working as it was back in the box. He also travelled approx 60 miles so I got lucky. It felt a little iffy as you never know what to expect when meeting someone unknown with a high value item at night. it went smooth though and was painless.
You get the usual idiots lowballing and scammers as expected.
I have excellent ebay feedback but still didn't want to go down that route and CEX offers are crazy low seeing what they sell for elsewhere.
In short, its not easy shifting these high end GPUs unless you're somewhat brave or willing to take a big hit for a quick and easy sale.

Yeah its weird but if someone can just about scrape £1400 - £1600 for a GPU, spending another £500 is out of the question. 5090 prices seem to be on the up too - I got another 5090 a couple of weeks ago and its now gone up another £100 already. The cheapest one I could find was £2000 but that was a pre-order. If I wanted one immediately, £2200 was cheapest I could find on the day from big (trusted) suppliers.

I prefer the 4090 FE to the 5090 FE, yes it's marvellous what they have achieved in a small package but it's still a toasty bugger. Maybe a lot of others think the same. That said I wouldn't over pay for a 4090 I'd rather pay a little extra and get a 5090.

Some people just like to save money and are happy to take a risk. Add to that the fact the 4090 isn’t that far off a 5090 in performance, especially if you don’t care about higher multiples of framegen, and it’s the highest end card to support 32bit PhysX.

@aoaaron With regards to selling parts, for me it’s overclockers, avforums or cex if I’m really desperate. Always with a preference for collection. Issues aren’t limited to eBay, I’ve seen threads on forums turn into a tit for tat where the buyer claims damage etc. The disputed threads on avforums are sometimes eye opening….

For anything high value I just don’t feel comfortable sending.

True but theres still a chance it could be a compromised account or one linked to online crime and then the knock on effect of that. Yeah I know its very unlikely but have only seen it happen once to someone. Its all fine now though but stressed them out at the time.

Thanks Someone is coming today to my house £1450.
I could have got £1650 but I didn't want to wait for the other buy. He was a bit long in responding to messages and I want it out of the house so I can move on.

5090 installed and its destroying VR!

4090 sold for £1450. Got a couple of offers today for £1650 but honoured the deal with the kid.

I'm happy, got it out of the way. New GPU installed. Now to wait for the 6090 and do this all over again.

5090 has got me playing Flight sim and FF7 Rebirth where the 4090 couldn't do it at playable frame rates. Impressed!
