just wondered (as chaos in our village at the moment due to road-works and temp traffic lights) - as the contractors have moved further up the village road lights have gone from 2 way to 4 way causing even longer queues

the thing that surprised me though is that one of the 4 ways is a Private Road - with no public access - I was surprised that Highways could even put a traffic light on a Private Road non adopted road ?

There is a building site access for construction of a small new estate down that road (was negotiated with the farmer)

was just intrigued how it worked - would be like having a traffic light on your drive would that be allowed too ?

cheers

They can't place them on it, but they can traffic light you coming off it afaik. They either got permission to do it, or just assumed it was public road.

thankyou for the replies.

Non public road (says Private Road) - but is not gated so I suspect perfectly AOK for lights to be there

We are enduring 12 weeks of Traffic Lights for gas works in our Village - has been a right pain queues wise. 2 way was not great but as they've moved up the street its now 4 way - one of those was a Private road (farm track) for which I've never seen lights on a road like that before
